What to expect
- Beginning with your deposit on May 15, 2025, pension payments will be made by CIBC Mellon instead of the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador.
- Your gross pension payment amount and timing of deposits will not change as a result of this transition. However, if you live outside of NL, your net pay may change. Currently, all pensioners are taxed based on the withholding rate for the province of NL. Going forward, CIBC Mellon will process tax deductions based on the tax regulations for your address of residence.
- You will receive a statement by mail for your first pension payment from CIBC Mellon. Quarterly paper statements will no longer be mailed to you; however, if there is ever any change made to your payment amount, CIBC Mellon will send you a statement reflecting the updates. As always, you can access your pension information, including cheque stubs, anytime through your secure online account in myPENSION.
